The U.S. women's national team will play their second match of the 2025 SheBelieves Cup against Australia on Sunday. It's the first meeting between the two sides since their group-stage match in the 2024 Olympics. The Stars and Stripes eliminated the Matildas from contention before going on to win the Olympic gold medal. The two sides have a recent history of meetings on big stages and also met in the Tokyo Olympics during the bronze medal game where the United States claimed the third place. The Americans hold a 28-1-5 record over the Matildas across 35 all-time meetings.

Catarina Macario shook off three years of demons by scoring her first international goal since 2022 to open the scoring, finishing off a great play orchestrated by Lily Yohannes and Yazmeen Ryan. Colombia’s only good chance came moments after the first goal, as Mayra Ramirez missed a sitter with a blast over the crossbar.
Right on the hour mark, the U.S. would deservingly double their lead as young Aly Sentnor scored a sensational goal from well outside the penalty area. The 21-year-old cut inside on her right, sending a defender for a spin, and ripped the ball into the top-right corner.
While that was the final score of the game, the two goals were far from the only bright performers. Yohannes, who helped create the opening goal, was utterly brilliant in the first half and one of the USWNT standouts over the course of the 90 minutes. Tara McKeown, making her international debut at center-back with Naomi Girma out, was also excellent partnering captain Emily Sonnett. The U.S. will take on Australia next on Sunday, with the SheBelieves Cup finale against Japan to follow.
