No surprise that all BYU fans want to talk about is the back to back targeting penalties. But what is surprising to me is that almost all (not all) the local media think the calls were bad. I know most are BYU sycophants but factually there is little open to interpretation here. The rule is clear.

“No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul.”

Defenseless? Check
Head or neck area? Check
Helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder? Check

Easy call.

All the attempts at diversion by saying that there was no helmet to helmet contact are either gross ignorance or willful obfuscation.
