The reports of talks breaking down between the Pac-12 and Big12 aren’t surprising to me. There’s no true desire for a knee-jerk long-term solution by schools like Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Utah, Cal, and Colorado. As I’ve continuously said, these six especially feel like they’re stronger together and are willing to play the long game. Any Big12 people saying these schools risk going G5 if they turn the Big12 down, are grasping at straws and over-inflating the value of a conference that just added G5 schools to comprise 25% of their conference.
