I caught up with Texas WR Gavin Holmes this evening following his unofficial visit to Utah over the weekend. Here are a few highlights:
- He loved his trip to Utah and thought the facilities were especially nice. He also thought the scrimmage was cool, and appreciated the chance to sit down with Coach Holliday and hear what he had to say about the school.
- He has a great early relationship with Coach Halliday and relates especially well to him. Loves his energy.
- He also visited BYU over the weekend and was highly complimentary of them as well. Said that both schools will play favorably in his decision.
- He told me that he has no ties to the state of Utah, so the attention from BYU and Utah was a bit of a surprise.
- He ran a 4.43 40 at the NIKE combine, and since that time a lot of schools have come calling. Washington and Oregon are coming to watch him in spring football, as well as all of the Texas schools.
- He's a good student and academics are especially important to him. APR rating will be considered in his decision.
- He has no timeframe and will make his decision when it feels right. This kid would fit in great at Utah from a personality standpoint. Ute fans would love him.
