Coach Whittingham:

The team always thought Tyler Huntley had lots of potential – played very well in Spring, that’s why coming out of spring there wasn’t a starter. Tyler is a true dual threat and won the job.

North Dakota is a tough team, physical. They are returning a lot of guys back and the Utes are by no means “overlooking this game.”

Lots of things to improve on in the red zone – will have a whole new look with Troy’s offense. It’s been a focus all of spring and fall. Hopefully looking for better results.

Receiving group is the most dramatic difference. The team feels they have really helped themselves at that spot. You will see four WR’s a good percentage of time.

Darren Carrington has been what the Utes expected. Noting that he knows practice and has brought a play making ability. He’s added to what the Utes are doing and fits perfectly in what the Utes offense wants to do.

Zack Moss is the lead back.

Chase Hansen playing is TBD. He’s building up reps each practice, team is being very cautious with him.

True freshman and red shirt freshman will play a big factor this season.

The offensive line is really coming together. They feel confident in what they’ve been able to do and the group is talented, just short on game experience.

Kicking situation will go right down to Wednesday.

Darren Carrington has been perfect with the expectations set for him off the field. He’s doing what he needs to do and hopefully staying on the “straight and narrow.”

Thoughts and prayers go out to Houston and the families effected by it – especially with guys on the team from there, past and present.

Scout team is doing a great job providing looks for the defense.

He didn’t know Cazzie Brown – thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Tyler Huntley will handle the attention that comes from being a starting QB just fine. He’s what you look for in a QB.

The guys don’t get ahead of themselves – focus on what’s in front of you and nothing else. The team is focused on North Dakota.

The want to make sure the offense is running smoothly – throwing better, getting chunk plays. The overall mechanics of the offense need to be smooth.

The three players present were Casey Huges, Tyler Huntley, and Jackson Barton.

Casey Hughes:

Credits this opportunity to the older guys who paved the way and who he looked up to. Always working hard and did his time.

The film study the team has done is helping tremendously.

It doesn’t matter who the team plays, the preparation is the same.

The offense is faster, and more exciting to go up against.

Tyler Huntley:

Tyler is excited to great things with what this opportunity brings.

He’s tried to stay off of social media as mush as possible and focus on what he needs to do.

He’s excited to finally play on Thursday and just let everything out.

Expect to see a lot of WR’s making plays this season. He at the moment doesn’t have a “go to guy” because everyone is a play maker.

Jackson Barton:

He is simply just ready to get out and play. He feels that the offense is “moving forward” and is excited to help with that.

The team can be the best-prepared team, but you never know what will happen – you just have to trust the preparation you’ve done.

He’s excited to see what this offense can do and credits Troy Taylor for bringing in a different mentality.
