The PAC-12 Network(s) will be 3 years old in August. Compared to the success of the Big Ten Network launched in June, 2006 and 51% owned by FOX and the SEC Network, August, 2014 and owned by ESPN, the success of the PTN pales.
I was one of those who thought the model of 100% conference ownership was a good idea but it's becoming clear that having a partner might have been the better way to go. Whether it's because the partner provides leverage in negotiations with TV providers or some other reason, I can't say but the PAC-12 Network has suffered compared to the other 2 conference networks.
I think that Larry Scott should wait on the AT&T merger with Direct TV to see if that helps but if things haven't changed in another year I believe it's time to try something new.
