Check out this interview on Cowherd's program with Joel Klatt. It's all very good but about the 9 minute mark they start talking about changing the CFP playoff system. Here's part of the quote from Klatt.
"Even though I don't think it's good for the sport, I do think that's exactly where we're headed... We're headed for 8 and it's going to happen before the contract is up. I've had some conversations with very high-powered people... that are very much in the know and the reason this is going to expand to 8 before this contract is done is because it's the only way that some of these conferences on shaky ground.... remain together, mainly the PAC-12."
