In a recent conversation I was having with a source close to the program, an interesting comment came up. It's one that I think can be said for a lot of P-5 schools and their in-state HS programs. What was basically said is that the mindset in the HS rank needs to understand that their kids are valued, but every situation is different. Numbers change, whether it's the total amount of scholarships for a given year, or positional needs that change frequently. Because of this, those that aren't the elite of the elite feel slow-played, when it's not really the case. It's all about a numbers game. When this happens, HS coaches and their players can feel a little let down, so the goal is to create better communication, so that they get a realistic view of the process.
It seems so simple, when in reality it's not. Just thought that was interesting, especially for board conversation purposes.
