Although Sweden will be highly motivated to face Finland, they are coming off a high-energy battle against Canada. In that game, the Swedes got off to a slow start but showed resilience by overcoming two separate two-goal deficits to force overtime.
Fifteen seconds into the third period, the United States extended their lead as Matthew Tkachuk launched a wrister from the blue line that was deflected by Niko Mikkola, beating Saros. Just 11 seconds later, Team USA scored a fourth goal as Jake Guentzel fired home on a 3-on-2 rush. Brady Tkachuk tacked on his second goal of the night just over two minutes later as the rout was on. Matthew Tkachuk later tapped in a rebound for the United States' sixth goal with just under nine minutes remaining, providing an exclamation point on a statement night for this generation of U.S. hockey stars (and the Tkachuk brothers).

In its place, the league is holding the 4 Nations Face-Off, a week-long international best-on-best tournament with players representing the USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland. Each team will play the other three teams in a round-robin format, and then the top two teams will meet in a one-game championship game.
Canada topped Sweden in overtime last night to open the tournament, with Mitch Marner netting the game winner on a feed from Sidney Crosby, his third assist of the night. Up next are the US and Finland tonight at 8 p.m. (5 p.m. PT) on ESPN and ESPN Plus.
