The Scotties Tournament of Hearts is heading back to Thunder Bay. The 2025 Scotties will feature 18 teams competing for the championship, starting with pool play on Friday, Feb. 14. Those squads will be split into two pools of nine, and the top three teams from each pool will earn berths in the playoffs.

The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) and Tourism Thunder Bay presented a $445,000 cheque to support the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. This funding was provided through the CEDC's Tourism Development Fund.
This year's Scotties will take place at the CN Centre, a multi-purpose arena known for hosting a variety of sporting events. Located in northern British Columbia, Prince George is the perfect setting to showcase the sport’s widespread appeal across Canada. The city has a strong curling tradition, and the community's enthusiasm for the sport is expected to create an electric atmosphere. Fans will be treated to top-tier curling while experiencing the warmth and hospitality of a community that takes pride in supporting local and national athletes.
In a media release, the commission's CEO, Jamie Taylor, said that the Thunder Bay CEDC is very proud to support the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. “Hosting an event of this magnitude brings immense economic and social benefits to Thunder Bay," said Taylor.
"From our local businesses and restaurants to our tourism and hospitality sectors, the impact of the Scotties ripples across our city, fostering growth and creating unforgettable memories for all involved.”
The Fort William Gardens will host the nine-day tournament from Feb. 14 to 23, featuring some of the country’s top women’s teams competing to win the Canadian women’s championship.
“Curling Canada is excited to bring the Scotties Tournament of Hearts back to Thunder Bay,” said Marcy Hrechkosy, the event manager of Curling Canada, in the press release.
“We look forward to a full house and a great party. Athletes, volunteers and fans will be coming from across Canada for this national championship and the atmosphere will be electric. The curling action will be top level in Fort William Gardens.”
Hrechkosy added that local entertainment will be held daily alongside the tournament in the Original 16 Patch of the attached curling club.
The 2025 event will also mark the 44th consecutive year of the championship and is expected to welcome over 2,500 people, potentially generating over $4.1 million in economic impact.
