While the Michigan State loss screwed up my bracket big-time, it might help my Utes. Maybe Michigan State was, in fact, grossly over-rated. But, if we can beat Gonzaga (no given), I'd rather face Middle Tennessee State, or Syracuse in the Elite 8 than Michigan State. Obviously, Gonzaga is better than their 11 seed and Middle Tennessee is better than their 15 seed and Syracuse is likely better than their 10 seed. BUT, when the tournament began, I saw Michigan State as a huge hurdle in our bracket. I think they are a better team than what they showed against Middle Tennessee State. If that game is played again 5 times, I think Michigan State wins 3 or 4 of the 5. Maybe all 5.
So, one bite at a time. Gonzaga will be a tough game. But if we can beat them, playing a 10
or 15 seed in the Elite 8 isn't a bad option.
