-Karene Reid has really grown and developed this offseason. He was aware of his weaknesses and he’s improved them. He’s grown physically and mentally. His game has expanded and good things are in store for him.

-Swan called Barton a big blank canvas when he started working with him, and he’s really taken well to Sean’s coaching. He’s really cerebral and a freak athlete. He’s shown a ton of growth and doing great things in fall camp. Swan feels that the family tradition and his background with Cody playing linebacker at Utah, has helped Lander’s adjustment period.

-Diabate is long, athletic , and fast. He had a great mindset and he’s absorbing everything fast that Swan is throwing at him. He’s got great energy and he’s everything you want. Diabate has been a sponge that has easily adapted to the University of Utah ways.

-Medlock can decipher plays fast. He’s really athletic with great “foot-fire.” He’s grown his game tremendously. Swan called Medlock a nice blank piece of canvas, as well.

-The hope is to not miss a beat with the new group. Swan has high expectations for them, despite replacing both Lloyd and Sewell.

-Swan says having a stacked and talented group is both exciting and difficult. He has guys with a lot of great tools to work with, but he also has to find the best ways to utilize as many of the guys as he can.

-Calvert’s physical progress with coming off the injury has been great. He’s done a great job with the playbook too and Sean is excited where he’s headed.

-Swan stresses to his guys that they are sideline to sideline players and that every tackle should be viewed as theirs.

-He expects the young guys to have a big impact on the defense for the season.
