It is good to hear that our offense is having success on the edges since is the safe spot and where they have succeeded in the past. However, if our passing game is to make the leap to the next we have to learn to have consistent success throwing short, long, and seam passes over the middle. I watched the final three NFL games leading to the super bowl and was very surprised at how all of the teams (even some with mediocre QBs) made the middle field throws a major part of their passing game. Any good defense can sit on the outside waiting for the receiver to turn toward the sideline and make that play very difficult IF they know it is unlikely that the receiver will break toward the middle. Granted, exploiting the middle of the field requires an accurate pass since the int possibility is more present and it tends to work better with taller receivers and especially TEs. Our offense is one thing if we consistently use the middle of the field and quite another thing when we are limited to throw safe passes on the outside.
