I remember shortly after my return to the state I watched Utah play a game in which they stumbled around and lot to pretty poor team, barely able to compete in the old WAC. I remarked to my wife on the way home that perhaps Utah should consider moving to the Big Sky where they were at least competitive. I fortunately missed most of the 70s and 80s being in the military and having limited access to Utah football. The highlight was watching the mid 70s defeat of BYU on the old college weekend wrap-up show late one Sunday night. When I returned to the State in the early 80s and started watching the utes regularly again it was almost painful, made more so by the gloating from down south. We have come a long way since then, so forgive us old timers if we still revel in just being competitive in one of the best leagues in college football, it's been a long road for some of us.
