Good clean scrimmage with a lot of live work

QB battle is neck and neck and the offense had a lot of juice. Great passing attack today. Both are accurate and leading with great tempo. The battle will continue into the next scrimmage with no answer because both are performing at an elite level.

Theo Howard was a standout today along with the tight ends. He also mentioned Solomon Enis, Jaylen Dixon, Devaughn Vel and Tavion Thomas. The offensive line really protected well.

Bam is tough to rush against because he’s so long and physical.

Devin Lloyd, Mika Tafua, and Britain Covey were all held out today. Just because they have nothing to prove.

All running backs are looking great, but Tavion Thomas was the one who stood out in the scrimmage.

Top four safeties are: Vonte Davis, Cole Bishop, Brandon McKinney and Kamo’i Latu.

He highlighted both of the Calverts in the backup LB battle, but Trey Reynolds and Jonah Elliss are doing nice thing. He also mentioned Andrew Mata’afa and Karene Reid. Those are the ones fighting for the backup reps right now.

Whittingham said Cameron Peasley started awful with punting, but he’s gotten the hang of it now and doing what they need him to do. Plenty of it was just adjusting to a new game for him. He’s averaging 45 yards a kick right now and he can do both rugby style and the typical drop-back style.

Malone Mataele is playing his best football. Zemaiah Vaughn and Faybian Marks can step on for Phillips and Broughton without much of a drop off.

All the freshmen and sophomores are really stepping up and maturing fast.

Tyler Wegis is doing some good things, but he’s been dinged up the last few days.
