A window into the way Johnnie’s mind thinks... I’m told that Johnnie is someone who always has a plan. With that plan, he doesn’t necessarily divert from it. The reason I say this is because he has had a suddenly fast ascension and he could look at the Knicks situation ultimately and say that Thom Thibodeau is someone who usually doesn’t stay in places long. Therefore patience is a virtue.

Why do I say this? Because if he’s truly Harlan’s next guy, Harlan needs to approach him as the top guy and not a guy in a secondary pool of candidates. Basically, lock in and sell him because he’s got a pretty damn good 3-5 year plan set up with a team that’s improved and yet another guy he’s helped make an all-star (Julius Randall). Is the belief that he’ll be more likely to take it than Jensen? Yes. It’s no guarantee though and the approach on it will be important.
