MITCHELL β Physicality was in ample supply, but offense proved much harder to come by for the Mitchell High School boys basketball team on Tuesday night.
Second-ranked Mitchell hung tough throughout but fell off the pace in the third quarter and couldnβt climb out of the hole, falling 47-38 against Eastern South Dakota Conference archrival Huron at the Corn Palace.
For the game, the Kernels limited the Tigers to 37.5% shooting. However, on the other end, Mitchell was held to 30.4% shooting from the floor, which included a 0-for-14 mark from 3-point range.
βOur kids are playing their butts off on the defensive end, but man, it's just a struggle offensively,β said MHS head coach Ryker Kreutzfeldt.
βThe short of it is the teams we played well against followed a different (scouting report) than the teams weβre playing now,β he later added. βThe quickest way to beat that scout is weβve got to make perimeter shots. When you donβt do that, it makes it even tougher. The fix for us offensively is we need perimeter shooting.
