Per my Notre Dame contacts on Ludwig

I’ve been told that Notre Dame is confident on landing Ludwig. Expect Utah to fight to keep him, but Utah could be looking for a new OC soon. I’m told their recent OC Tommy Rees was making $2 mill at ND and I’d expect the same for Ludwig.

If/when this goes down, initially I’d expect Utah to focus on promoting Harding or going for the stars with Rich Rod.

I’m not saying Ludwig to ND is a sure thing, but it could be a difficult fight for Utah with how confident ND feels.

The Next Utah OC

If Ludwig Takes the ND job where does the next OC come from?

1) there doesn't appear to be any coach qualified to run the current offense on staff.

2) no veteran off coach like a Dennis Erickson to step in and keep the offense at it's current level.

3) can’t think of any young coach (with Utah ties) that is a offensive coordinator type in waiting ? that fits at Utah.

4) recruiting takes a big hit with Ludwig gone.

5) so much for just sitting around waiting for spring football practice to start and to see what QB Nate Johnson has to offer.

6) Is there anyone on the BYU staff that could handle Utah’s offense?

Please forget number six I don’t know what came over me. I hope my fellow Utes won’t hold this against me.

Wilner's Latest.

It's interesting and somewhat concerning to look ahead and consider what some of us have talked about already. But this article points to three conferences by the mid-2030s with The Big Ten and SEC having 20 or 24 members and the Big 12 loading up their numbers around the country to match.

Wilner is an advocate of the PAC but he recognizes the demise of the Pac-12. I know Utah is paying attention but I hope for them to be proactive and not roll the dice later unless some can convince me otherwise without just positive spin.

Regarding report on Ludwig being leading ND OC candidate

I don’t doubt ESPN’s Heather Dinich’s report, but it would go against everything Ludwig has told the Utah program. The last couple years, I’ve been told by a handful of sources that Ludwig has told people that he’ll retire when Whittingham retires, Utah is his last stop, and that Rising would be the last QB he coached. I feel like this could be just a play for a raise, to be honest. At the same time, we’ll see if the ND appeal is just too much to turn down as a coach.

And the Hits Just Keep On Coming. Now it's Grace McCallum.

After the Utah Football program made it to a second straight Rose Bowl and closed out a strong recruiting class, it's been bad news ever since. Now it looks like Grace McCallum might have a serious knee injury.

2,542 points as a Ute… Will it stand forever?

2,542 is the amount of points Keith Van Horn scored in his career as a Ute. The 20.8 PPG isn’t that overwhelming necessarily. It’s the way that college basketball has now gone. If someone is averaging that as a freshman or a sophomore, they’re heading to the NBA. Will it ever be broken?

Whether you like LeBron or not — I like and respect him — that was a fun moment to watch last night. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held that record for just shy of 39 years.
