OFFICIAL VISITOR UPDATE: Sammie Hunter, CB, Chandler, AZ

While currently undecided, cornerback Sammie Hunter is closing in on a decision in early July and is very interested in the possibility of becoming a Ute after his official visit. Before the visit, he was believed to be a Iowa State lean. However, Utah drove home an effective message.

“They’re back to back Pac-12 Champions. It’s a dream come true to have the chance to play for a championship culture.”

Iowa State and Utah are his final two with a decision likely on July 1st.

Official Visitors: 6/23

Here are this week’s visitors. I’m double-checking any last minute changes like can always happen. It’s a week of extremely talented players that are mostly flying under the radar early in the process. Plus, four-star Lamar Radcliffe who hails from Ganther’s stopping ground in Sacramento.

OFFICIAL VISITOR UPDATE: Dayton Aupiu, FS, Pacifica HS

I just spoke with Aupiu who visited last weekend and said it was a good visit. The highlight of the visit was getting to see how serious the Utes are about winning and seeing how they develop players.

Aupiu is just the kind of athlete Utah likes at the free safety position. He's got good height, a ball hawk mentally, and he likes to hit.

About a month ago he narrowed his top 5 schools to San Diego State, Penn State, Arizona, Utah, and California.

Just recently, he's reduced that list to just Arizona, Utah, and California, and he's visiting each school this month and then he plans to make his decision in early July.

OFFICIAL VISITOR UPDATE: Ephraim Asiata

With the back to back days of holidays, we’re working on getting the visitors on the phones. I promise we’ll have more updates coming.

I spoke with Ephraim tonight and he said the best part of the trip was see his family’s excitement. He talked about each one to me. Additionally, he said he got a kick out of his dad acting like he was reliving his Utah days.

His hosts were Spencer and Logan Fano. He also spent time with Isaac Asiata, since they’re family.

He admitted to me that his commitment timeline probably just moved up. He’s still going to BYU this weekend, but he said it was really hard for him to not commit over the weekend, especially during his talk with Whittingham.
