State Basketball Playoffs

Are there any players we are recruiting that are currently playing? One I m intrigued by is 7 footer George McConckie from Highland. Plays hard, had 16/16/4 in last game. The Barnes kid from Olympus is a good PG, smart but not the most athletic but shoots well or the dowdell kid at Olympus. Great shooter not the most athletic. I am not totally looped on in the 6a and 5 a can only speak for what o ve seen is all. These seem more like a Weber or SUU level recruits but any insights are awesome!

Basketball thoughts

Huge win at UCLA! Another critical road game Saturday at Colorado.

My take on the roster, status of the program etc.

BC is a stud. Doing everything expected of him, which is a lot, and more.
Deivon is playing at a very high level. If I nitpick, his 3 point shooting needs to improve and he needs to cut down on turnovers.
Keita gets better and better. He needs to cut down on his fouls so his minutes can increase.
Gabe Madsen is in a slump. We need his shooting and his decision making with the ball to improve -- stat!
Cole Bajema has underperformed imo. But, he played well against UCLA. Hopefully, that will continue.
Lawson Lovering hasn't done much since returning from injury. Need more from him.
Ben Carlson. Love his toughness. His shooting needs to get better too. He's losing some PT to Jake Wahlin.
Jake Wahlin. Is carving out a role for himself when we play 1-3-1 zone. He is more athletic than I expected and has good size. Added minutes are there for him if he can score a bit. His shot looks good,
Hunter Erickson has to play while Worster is out. Tough kid. Leaves it all on the floor but he struggles to guard his position and teams pick on him. Shooting better now than earlier in the season.
Rollie Worster - His injury has caused problems for the second year in a row. Hope he's back soon since we're on the NCAA bubble.
Luka Tarlac - a project. Hasn't done much in two years. Doubt that will change going forward.
Will Exacte - incomplete due to injury.

Coaching staff - guys are playing hard. Lots of positive energy from our coaches. The last play against UCLA was a masterpiece. Program is getting better although they haven't set the world on fire which isn't all that surprising given the state of the program when they arrived.. I'm still optimistic Craig Smith can get it done and will get at least another year to build since he has a six year contract.

Next year - We lose BC and Bajema. The two HS kids we have signed jackson Johnson and David Katoa both have LDS mission calls. So we will have at least 3 roster spots.

Our rotation at this point for next year would be
Lovering and Keita in the frontcourt with Madsen, Worster and Deivon in the backcourt. Ben Carlson and Wahlin off the bench up front and Exacte and Erickson in the backcourt.
Roster priorities - a scoring stretch four. A scoring wing, a combo guard.
