INSTANT REACTION: Rising is a vibe. Without him… oh boy

A party atmosphere had the air sucked out of it, just like that.

First off… Whittingham said he that he was told they don’t believe Rising injury is serious. I’ve also heard this through other channels. So as difficult as it is to say, just breathe.

Does that mean that Cam will play against Utah State? I don’t think that they fully need him to, but then Oklahoma State is the following week. The hopeful scenario is that the cut is the worst part of it and that will heal up fast.

I’ve said it time and time again though, the presence and vibe of Rising just elevates the whole team.

I don’t think that it’s time to freak out over Isaac Wilson‘s performance, at all. He was going up against a defensive coordinator that stems from the Utah tree because of Gary Andersen, and so Aranda knew to throw stunts and blitzes and throw Wilson off with a bunch of pre-snap movement. Utah will go into the next week with two game plans and they can afford to do so with it being Utah State. Because of this if Isaac does have to go, they will have a better game plan set up for him to be successful.

The good news out of the office today is that Mike Mitchell escaped serious injury and looked good after getting back in the game and also Micah Bernard showed that he can get to the 20 carry mark and be a dangerous feature back.

Utah’s defense was absolutely ferocious at first and then just like the offense and just like the crowd, the energy was sucked right out of them when Cam went out. There was an adjustment. But for the most part, you’ve got to be happy with their performance against a good dual threat quarterback. Connor O’Toole and Van Fillinger might be turning into the best defensive end combo in the entire country. Crazy thing is, Logan Fano was looking elite before his injury last year and he’s closer and closer to 100%.

Kicking is a concern, and the offensive line is a concern.

More thoughts later, but let’s hear from everyone else.
