Every single argument you can make about expansion or jumping conferences has the exact opposite reason you do not jump conferences. Every single reason to take Cal/Stanford to the BIG has equal and opposite reasons you do not. Every single reason to TAKE Utah to the BIG has equal and opposite reasons you do not. Same with B12 inclusion. Same with UO/UW depature.

  • Being reported UW gets $40M to go to B12... A LOT MORE MONEY. But they also get $10M in additional travel expenditures. You get access to the highest level competition and a seat at the new P2. But, you also become Nebraska and win 7 games a year. You get games with Michigan and Ohio State. But they will not play late games so your West Coast inventory is diminished because your late games are going to be against Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.
  • Stanford and Cal bring academic clout and big research budgets. But you get sucky Stanford and Cal football both of which don't give a damn about football.
  • You get Utah and their huge investment in facilities and football but you get significantly less research funding.
  • You stay in the PAC and get >>>> CFP access than you would anywhere else.... You also get precious little security.
  • You get less $ to go streaming INITIALLY... They you are guaranteed MORE than the B12 or ACC in year 3 and beyond.
  • You get exciting new opportunities. You also destroy your brother and academic counter parts (Wazzu/UW, UO/OSU).
  • You get money... Your real chance at irrelevancy skyrockets.
EVERY SINGLE REASON TO LEAVE IS A REASON TO STAY AND VICE VERSA.

Throw on outright manipulation by the sports networks to affect deals and your head (looking at you Taylor Randall) has to be ready to explode. Tough, tough, tough decisions with no clear best course of action known.
