How patient will Oregon State be?

Gary, Kalani et al are walking into a pretty tough situation, IMO.

Last year, Oregon State went 5-7 overall and 2-7 in the PAC-12. Only a 5 point win at Colorado and a 8 point fluke against ASU kept them from a truly disastrous season. How do you reach those levels of futility with a senior QB rated 9th best QB in the coming NFL draft? It doesn't say much for the talent level of the team. Sean Mannion won them a lot of games during his years, especially when he had Brandin Cooks to throw to. That duo probably kept the Beavers from 5 consecutive losing seasons. That kind of talent doesn't walk into your program very often.

So you follow up a 2-7 PAC season with a sophomore QB (Luke Del Rio) who threw 18 passes last year and is basically the OSU version of Conner Manning, an undersized, pro-style QB. That doesn't sound like a very good fit for Gary Andersen. The coming season could be a very tough one for the Beavers.

Unless a lot changes in the next month, the Beaver's recruiting class isn't going to help much (11 recruits of which 8 rate out at 2 stars). We'll see in the next few years how successful Gary and Kalani are at getting good recruits to go to Corvallis, but it's not going to be a walk in the park. The coaching staff has got a major rebuilding effort on their hands, one that could take years.
