-Having the guys practice in high heat inside the facility is about as effective as you’re going to get it. You can simulate the sun coming down on you, but they’re doing what they can for crowd noise, humidity, and making the guys feel as uncomfortable as possible, in order to get comfortable.

-He loved the effort and energy in the scrimmage, but he mentioned you can tell that some situational stuff is just not where it’s supposed to be. One example is the red one communication, but it’s improved steadily the last two practices. They held plenty of proven guys out too, so that played a factor.

-Communication is key for the defense, especially between the linebackers and safeties.

-The linebackers are looking good. Diabate is a smart and savvy football player. Reid has some great experience, already. Barton is performing well and up to speed, he just needs that game experience.

-At defensive end, he loves the element of speed off of the edges that guys like Connor O’Toole, Jonah Elliss, and Chase Kennedy bring to put some pressure on the offensive tackles. O’Toole put 30 pounds on and kept his speed.

-Scalley wouldn’t hint at all of their versatility with schemes, but he did mention that when teams are playing fast that guys like Cole Bishop and Clayton Isbell can both play in the box.

-Suguturaga is a lot like Mika. He doesn’t have the speed, but he’s quick and powerful with his moves.

-This week is about improving fundamentals and this they’ve already implemented. There’s nothing new they’re implementing at the moment, it’s just about how they’re processing everything that was already put in.

-A new Florida coach and the transfers create challenges in game planning. Preparation is a blend of knowing the personnel Florida has, schemes they’ve ran, and schemes that were ran at Louisiana Layfayette with Napier.
