Here’s the nuggets from Whittingham’s interview today. Also, on Thursday it sounds like Whittingham will be allowing media to watch the tail end of practice again…

-With three days off, it took some time to get going, but practice went well.

-Whittingham was asked about linebacker and he immediately discussed the freshmen: Barton, Medlock and Tabaracci. He called Karene Reid the leader of that group. He spoke of Reid’s smarts, experience, and great instincts.

-On Diabate: Sideline to sideline range, can really take on blockers and has great athleticism. He’s really soaking in everything in the film room right now.

-Kump is close to being cleared for full contact, but he’s taking advantage of the mental reps, as well. They expect him to pick up right where he left off.

-Braeden Daniels is a guy like Ford who can play all positions. He’s currently lining up at left tackle.

-Michael Mokofisi is battling to start at the right guard position. He took starters reps there today.

-Falcon Kaumatule is currently the starter at right tackle. Zereoue Williams is really starting to do some good things and Whittingham mentioned that Tanoa Togiai is running with the offensive line although he was listed this spring as a DT.

-Paul Maile will be ready to go soon.

-At safety, Cole Bishop is continuing his strong performance from the season. Kamo’i Latu was dinged up for a few days, but he’s back. RJ Hubert is back to being 100% and looking good.

-Junior Tafuna and Van Fillinger are continuing to make great strides. Tennessee Pututau has really come on strong. Jonah Elliss and Connor O’Toole should be studs at defensive end.
