I get there's always the hope that the defense gets a stop or a turnover (which had happened twice actually) but I also think everyone kind of expected exactly what happened - Ohio State goes down and scores with little time left for Utah to do anything.
Kicking an onside kick there after that last touchdown catches Ohio State by surprise and maybe gives Utah a chance to do exactly what Ohio State does.
