What could make Super Bowl Sunday even better? Kittens and puppies, of course. The 2025 Great American Rescue Bowl will be the perfect warmup ahead of Chiefs-Eagles. This weekend, dozens of kittens and puppies will take part in a furry football game with the goal of bringing awareness to animal homelessness. The 3rd annual Kitten Bowl, formally known as the Great American Rescue Bowl, will give many rescue animals the chance to find their forever homes.

The lineup for the 2025 Great American Rescue Bowl is officially here, and Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive reveal of all the adorable puppies and kittens taking the field this year to raise awareness for animal adoption.
Now in its third year, the Great American Rescue Bowl is a two-hour original special hailing once more from the Great American Family Channel and North Shore Animal League America — the world's largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization. The animals, below, who are broken up into either Team Totally Take Me Homes or Team Sweetie Pies, will "compete" on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 9, from noon–2 p.m. ET, to showcase the plight of America’s homeless animals.
The special will again be hosted by Beth Stern, and feature more heartwarming, heartfelt stories than ever before, including the successful adoption of three of Animal League America’s longest-living senior feline residents to a new forever home together. Great American Rescue Bowl also showcases the nation’s passion and commitment to rescuing animals, featuring stories of saving pet lives through fostering, while honoring Animal League America and the lifesaving work of the organization’s vast network of national and international shelter partners.
Check out the full lineup of precious animals, below, and find out whether the Sweetie Pies take the crown, or if the Totally Take Me Homes win it all on Sunday at noon ET on the Great American Family Channel.
Much like late music superstar Prince, the Great American Rescue Bowl was formerly known as The Kitten Bowl. The special is a cat- and dog-filled gridiron throwdown of pets looking for their fur-ever homes. The two-hour adoption event offers a fun and furry alternative to the Super Bowl and includes adult dogs and cats as well as puppies and kittens playing on a football-themed stage. Between the turnovers and touchdowns, the special features heartwarming stories of pet lives saved through fostering.
"Saving pet lives has been a personal mission of mine for more than a decade and North Shore Animal League America is a profound partner in saving as many homeless pets as possible each year," said Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media. "I am always grateful to showcase these cuddly animals available for adoption because every life saved brings us one step closer to emptying the shelters forever," Abbott added.
