Benavidez comes in ranked No. 2 by the Ring Magazine in the light heavyweight division and Morrell is No. 8. The winner of Saturday’s fight would seemingly be in line to face Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light heavyweight title–if he defeats Dmitry Bivol on February 22.

In addition to Benavidez-Morrell, the undercard is solid as well. Benavidez’s brother, Joseph Benavidez Jr., a former world-title challenger is on the card fighting Danny Rosenberger.

Undefeated prospect Curmel Moton is back in action against Frank Zaldivar. Jeison Rosario faces Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr., Isaac Cruz faces Angel Fierro and in the co-main event, Brandon Figueroa will rematch Stephen Fulton.

The Benavidez vs. Morrell main card starts at 8 p.m. ET on February 1, with the prelims at 6 p.m. ET. Benavidez and Morrell should make their way to the ring around 11 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Benavidez (29-0) is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. The 28-year-old moved to light heavyweight and beat Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the interim WBC belt. Morrell (11-0) is a former WBA (Regular) super middleweight champion. He beat Radivoje Kalajdzic in August to win the WBA (Regular) light heavyweight title.

Both battle it out at the T-Mobile Arena for bragging rights and to determine the next challenger for undisputed light heavyweight gold.saffhfghfgh
