Coach Whittingham
· Tough, physical game vs. Stanford. Give credit to Stanford for being prepared.
· Didn’t create any havoc on defense, no sacks or takeaways. However they did what they could.
· Move on and are in decent shape. USC has one of the best QB’s in the country and the Utes have there work cut out for them. Need to do better at putting points up on offense.
· Combination of everything on offense – lots of guys in Troy’s face, open guys that we missed, or a missed throw. They must be coached better.
· Looking for QB’s making the right reads, taking care of the ball. Both guys will get a shot (Cooper and Troy).
· Running the football is special for Tyler – Can’t make that up for Troy or Cooper.
· Marquise Blair at times seems to be playing at a different speed then everyone else. So explosive and physical. He’s earned a starting role.
· Javelin Guidry does a great job at practice and every time he’s put in the game and is always making plays. The guys who do the best job, will play. Has great speed which as a secondary guy is invaluable.
· Bottom line is there is too much drama going on around the snaps and it must get cleaned up this week.
· Sam Darnold is one of the best QB’s in the country. He’s an outstanding athlete and is the whole package. He’s gotten better and better every week.
· Game could be a big positive on recruiting if you play well with the game on primetime, if you don’t play well it could go the other way.
· Stanford played a lot of man coverage and they moved the safety over the pay more attention for Darren Carrington. The Utes need to react better if opposing teams cover Darren more, receiving core needs to step up.
· As coaches they must do a better job of getting Raelon involved more, he’s a real talent.
· Chase is really part linebacker.
Darren Carrington
· Feels like the offense stopped themselves
· Wishes he could have been more effective in the second half.
· Troy got more comfortable in the 2nd half
· Always wants to have the mindset of “I’m a guy who can get the offense going.”
· The breakdown was a simple execution problem.
· If the run game can really get going DHC and Zack Moss bring a great 1, 2 punch.
· Excited to go back home and play in California
Leki Fotu:
· The game plan was to stop Bryce Love, felt they did a good job of that. There is more to improve on.
· Bryce love is good
Troy Williams:
· He’s excited to go back home see his family
· Has full confidence in his oline and to keep pushing
· He had an off night. You learn from them and continue to grind. You just have strike back.
