Jones held the UFC light heavyweight title at various points for about ten years. Considered a pound-for-pound great, "Bones" vacated the belt in 2020 and didn't compete for three years, returning in 2023 after Francis Ngannou left the organization.

The co-main event is a rematch between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira. The two fought at UFC 262 in 2021 for the UFC lightweight title. Chandler almost finished Oliveira early, but the latter stormed back and took Chandler out in round two.
Oliveira has since lost the belt and looks to return to title contention, while Chandler, who has waited to fight Conor McGregor for two years, moves on.
