I was able to attend the scrimmage today and wanted to share a few things that stood out to me. I hope I don't share anything I'm not supposed to say. If I do, Alex, please reprimand me.

Offense:
The starters were on point. Cam was his usual cool self. Throwing darts to his receivers and a lot of tight ends.. Had a great long ball down the left side to Vele for a 60 yard TD.
Money Parks had a good day was some nice catches.
Thomas Yasmin also looked good. Very athletic!
Tavion Thomas looked great. That dude is so hard to tackle. Didn't see Micah too much but Jaylon got some carries along with Curry and Ricky Parks. Vakapuna had some nice runs with the 3's.
JQJ was getting most of the 2nd team reps. He seems to be progressing better with his 2nd reads but showed his arm and touch on a few long balls to Money Parks and Cope.
Barnes played well also but I was excited to see Nate Johnson. His speed is legit. His is a little smaller than the other QB's but he's definitely one to keep a watch for in the future. Rose, on the other hand, really struggled.
Over all, the offense was solid and it was fun to watch them.

Defense:
D line looks solid. They rotated a few guys at the DE spot. Ellis, O'toole, Fillinger all making plays.
Linebackers are going to be really good. These guys are skilled with a lot of speed. I didn't get to see them up close, as they were on the other side of the field. But they were flying all over the place.
At safety, Cole and Hubert didn't play as they are trying a few other guys. Although, I think Hubert is still getting over being a little banged up. Isbell is long but made a couple bad reads. Vaki had a nice pick from JQJ but I think it may have been more on JQJ than Vaki, but he read it well and jumped in with good hands to pick it off.
Lots of different DB's getting work in. Broughton is back and healthy along with Clark Phillips are a great pair. Z Vaughn is so damn fast!!! There were a couple others who stood out but I don't think the numbers are what they are going to end up wearing. Its still early in the process but I'm very optimistic in this group.

Special teams:
Bouwmeester has a big leg! He kicked a punt about 70 yards from the south end zone. Impressive! Punt protection looked good as well. Let's hope this doesn't change. Hard to believe almost every game we lost was caused by the punt unit and special teams.
They rotated a few guys at punt return. Vele, Gilmore and Clark Phillips. I think they will continue to try several guys and determine who the starter will be as soon as possible. They also tried Dixon at this spot.
The field goal unit was impressive. I only saw one or two misses. But a lot of makes from 50 yards.

I absolutely love this team and I'm having such hard to tempering my expectations. If anyone has questions, I'll try to respond as I can. It was a good day at RES.
