From Utah Athletics:
SALT LAKE CITY[/B] - Three members of the Utah men's basketball team, Delon Wright, Brandon Taylor and Jakob Poeltl earned postseason awards from the Pac-12 Conference in a vote by the league's coaches.
For the second year in a row, Wright was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and All-Defensive Team. Wright becomes the first Ute to earn consecutive first team honors from a league since Hanno Motttola and Alex Jensen were named All-WAC and All-MWC in 1998-99 and 1999-2000.
Wright is one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award given to the nation's top point guard. He is also a finalist for the John Wooden Award and James Naismith Award, both given to the nation's top player.
Wright currently needs 14 steals to catch Pace Mannion for third all-time at Utah despite only playing two seasons. This year he ranks second in the Pac-12 in steals, 17th nationally, as well as assist-to-turnover ratio and free-throw percentage. Wright sits third in the league in assists, 34th nationally, and seventh in field-goal percentage. The senior also ranks among one of the league leaders in blocks (11th) and scoring (12th).
Taylor was named to the All-Pac-12 second team and was an honorable mention defensive team selection. The junior guard leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (2.7) and is sixth all-time at Utah with 165 for his career.
The L.A. native has been impressive on both ends of the court for the Utes. On the offensive end, he also ranks third in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio and eight in assists. Defensively, he ranks 12th in the Pac-12 in steals per game.
Poeltl has had an impressive first season with Utah and was named to the All-Freshmen Team. The Austrian leads the league in field-goal percentage (71.4%) and is second in blocks (53), both record highs for a Utah freshman.
Utah plays the winner of Stanford/Washington on Thursday at 8:40 p.m. PT on ESPN in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament from Las Vegas, Nevada.
