attended practice Saturday but havent had a chance to post... here are some quick observations:
- Defense looks really good - as usual, ahead of offense right now. front 4 - or should I say 8 or 9 are outstanding. starting LBs are excellent. corners are deep. Safeties need to develop a guy or two but should be fine.
- Travis and Kendall are still well ahead of others. anyone talking about Hansen entering the race hasnt seen him throw - he's got a lot of work to do. Cox has great speed and agility but inconsistent in the throw game, Manning is just the opposite - great arm but not much of a running threat. Isom also not ready yet - to his credit he stayed after to throw.
- Booker is ridiculous (in a good way) - needs to stay healthy of course. McCormick looks bigger and just as fast. they also had him lined up in the slot.
- Kenric Young just flat out burns everyone - separation on nearly every route.
- some guy named Loftin made a bunch of good catches and kept getting separation. never heard of him.
- in the one-on-one RB v LB running drills Gonzalez dominated on nearly every rep. the guy is going to be good. an offense with Travis or Kendall + Booker, McCormick, Gonzalez, Young, Scott, Patrick, Singleton, McClellon is going to be tough to stop (i know i'm missing guys).
- Norris and J Whitt looked jacked. Meanwhile - Masina looks like he needs to hit the weights and at times looked a little lost (yes, he intercepted a pass - but it bounced off a receiver and right into his arms). also got beat in the one on one's - needs to step it up...he has all the tools to do so.
- Seabrook came up limp on a play - looked like a hammy.
- in the pit were Gionni Paul, Ken Scott, Tim Patrick and Uhtafe (that's a lot of good players!). In fact, Uhtafe ran sprints almost the whole practice (perhaps came into camp above ideal weight?).
- Tevin Carter is still behind where he needs to be to start - has to get quicker. stayed after with Scalley to work on back pedal
- corners looked great - lots of guys. Hatfield (complete swagger), Porter, Thomas, Hobbs. Brian Allen with his length will find a way on to the field. he had several breakups.
- Barton and Albers are beasts. Tevi looked great at OT
that is all
