Many (including myself) were worried that the Utes couldn't overcome their poor pre-league strength of schedule in order to get an at large NCAA tournament berth. But now, not even at the halfway mark of the conference season, they pretty much already have made up that problem.
According to the RPI listed by ESPN today, the Utes are 57. Just two weeks ago Utah was in the 120s.
The advanced metrics like Utah even better. The Utes are 49 on BPI and 35 on KenPom. Look for the Utes to start showing up on more and more bracketology charts this week. Obviously, a win over Oregon would vault us into the tourney, but even with a close loss our rankings will go up.
In other words, if I were a betting man right now, my money would be on the Utes getting in!
