Talent and Scheme
On offense, Utah’s talent makeup is average (exception Moss and Covey) and below average in some positions but Utah fans want an above average offense. Until Utah gets better players on offense, the results on offense are going to be average.
If Utah changed the scheme to an XYZ offense and inserted the same players, the output on offense in my opinion is going to be the same or marginally different (maybe a 1 or 2 game swing in either direction). Remember talent is everything and an offense is only as good as it’s OLINE and QB play.
Execution and Play Calling
Okay, I get it. Troy Taylor could call better plays and call more running plays. The bottom line is Utah lost to UW because of turnovers and poor execution. I don’t care who the OC is or what scheme is run, Utah is not going win if WRs drop passes, fumble repeatedly, and the QB overthrows open WRs.
