It's been talked about a little bit today, but Lauri Markkanen (6-foot-10 210 pounds) a top international big-man will be visiting his final three schools in October: Utah, Arizona, and North Carolina. He's viewed as a well-rounded big (passing, mobility, & shooting) that can play SF, PF, & C. He's an absolute priority for the Utes and it would be big if Utah can land one of Markkanen, Jayce Johnson, or Mitch Lightfoot. It would be a celebration if they can land two of the three. From what I can gauge, I'd say their odds of at least going 1 for 3 on those guys, is in their favor.
Back to Markkanen... sources close to the program told me that Krystkowiak flew to Finland in April in order to further evaluate and spend time with Lauri and his family. He left even more sold on Markkanen and that's when the recruiting really ramped up. He has connections with former Ute, Hanno Mottola who is one of his coaches and his father played for Roy Williams at Kansas (therefore, the NC connection).
I also want to note that the program likes to keep a pretty tight lid on things, especially when it comes to international targets, therefore just as always, I'll share info whenever I can.
