They just finished the Rose Bowl introductory press conference. It was a quick one, and it started with a completely irrelevant question for the bowl game from I believe an Ohio reporter.

Heres some of the notes from it:

Whittingham—
Says the entire SLC community will travel well and he’s looking forward to seeing that.

Says Ohio State has no weakness and does everything well.

The Rose Bowl is the next step in the evolution of our program.

Could be more proud of the team leaders after losing Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. Mantra became, we’ll never get over it, but we’ll get through it. There’s no blueprint on how to handle it and it’s the most difficult thing he’s been through as a coach. Once again credits Lowe’s mom for helping them carry on and fight through the pain.

Called Devin Lloyd the best defender to ever come through the U in the modern era. Then stated maybe there was someone in the 1930s or 40s.

They have a process and they do well in bowl games. It’s their first Rose Bowl., but not their first rodeo with the NY6 type bowl games.

Whittingham doesn’t think he’d have the same career he’s had without Meyer. He was disappointed when Urban initially got the job over him, but it became the best thing that ever happened to him. From scheduling to preparations and everything.
He also realized that he wasn’t ready to be an HC like he thought he was.

Day—
High praise for Whittingham as a coach and the Utah program. Knows they’ll come to play.

His guys are excited for a prestigious bowl game against a great team and are looking forward to preparing for it.

Day was a GA with Urban in his first year at Florida. Joined him at Ohio State in 2017. He learned so much from him that he only hopes that some day some coach can say that he did the same for him.
