I spoke with Galivan CC's Deniko Carter after he tweeted out that he'll commit to the Utes when the time is right. Here's what he meant by that: Utah is his school, but he won't officially commit until just after his visit on January 16th. His coach wants him to take that approach, so that the two can come out and just see everything for themselves. Several big schools have been in wait-&-see mode because of his grades. Currently he doesn't have an impressive offer list, but Cal and Fresno have been talking with him. He'll sign in February, but he's still going to have to attend summer school and won't show up until right before fall camp.
Coach Stubblefield is his recruiting coach and the two have built a nice relationship. After talking with Stubblefield, Carter feels that Utah has his back and that they will make sure he gets his academics taken care of.
He's 6-foot-5 190 pounds and his Galivan coach clocked him at a 4.3 40. However, he believes it's likely closer to a 4.4. He played in nine games this year, going over 100 yards in five of them.
