Coach Whittingham:
A lot of good things coming out of the game against Washington. However the only thing that matters didn’t happen. Thought the offense performed well. Tyler played his best game as a Ute against Washington. Special teams made impact plays. Defense played well for 58 minutes. A tough defeat and a tough place to play.
Both teams find themselves in a very similar situation coming into the game against Colorado. Both fighting for a bowl game.
Will miss the senior class, they’ve won a lot of games for the team and came in when the team was still transitioning into the Pac-12.
The team had been aggressive the entire game. He took the timeout because he thought WA wanted to drive down the field. Thought the Utes had good field position and bet on his defense to make a play. If he could do it again, he would. Have lots of faith in his defense. Agree or disagree, it’s your choice.
Leka has overcoming a lot of emotional strife. He’s shown his resilience and is so proud of how he’s persevered.
You only care about wins. We don’t make excuses. Being in the Pac-12 it’s tough.
Wasn’t about letting time expire and play OT – wanted to win.
No season ending injuries from the Washington game. Hoping to get guys back this week.
Becoming more aggressive as his career goes on in going for it on 4th down.
Isn’t worried about his team being down from the loss against Washington. They’ve had tough, emotional losses before and have come back from them. You must pick yourself back up, that’s football, that’s life. Has full confidence in the senior class and the leaders that they won’t let it happen. They’re playing for a lot this week.
Colorado has some talented players. Aren’t putting up the same numbers that they did last year. They took a big hit with graduation. Still playing hard and are well coached.
Has a ton of interest in the Utah job and that’s where his interest is at. That’s all he’s focused on. Doesn’t pay attention to what is going on in the outside. Where he’s at is the most important to him and that’s how he operates.
The team has had more in season visits compared to years past. The mid-year enrolle is becoming more apparent.
Getting to a bowl game in invaluable of the young guys and a great reward for the vets. The practices add up to almost another spring ball.
Feels that the admin is doing the best they can to give the program what they can.
Old school and would never sit out a game, but understands if guys sit out a bowl game if they’re going to the NFL and don’t want to risk it.
Tyler is playing with a lot of confidence, and making great decisions. He’s getting better and better. His production is improving. He’s picking up momentum. He’s excited for the future.
