Nathan caught up with a Ena after practice, who had some interesting things to say. You can tell he’s really happy with this group and the D overall.
-Great spot for the future, but trying to take care of the present. They love what they have with Hansen, Barton, and Thompson
-Bernard is ahead of Pirtle, progress wise, as Pirtle even admitted to Ena that all he did in juCo was rush off of the edge.
-Chase makes great reads and has great reaction time at LB. Chase’s athletic ability is second to none.
-In the past, Barton struggled with the physicality of the game. He’s figured it out now and has all the confidence to match.
-Feels like the D had more hunger this year. Specifically mentioned Lowell and Mokofisi as if they had nothing to prove and really fight for.
-Says Gary Andersen is the best D-Line coach in the country.
-Donovan is basically 1c. He’s more than capable to be their best LB.
