It's going to be an interesting weekend for official visits. There are several kids who are only tentatively scheduled at this point, so plans could change last minute. Here's the breakdown of who we expect to be on campus:
Terrell Burgess
Cornerback
6-foot, 180 pounds
San Marcos (Calif.) High School
Three Stars
Recruiting Coach: Sharrieff Shah
Considering: Utah, Arizona
Breakdown: Burgess is arguably the most talented cornerback prospect on Utah's board, and the Utes have been in hot pursuit of him since this summer. He's already visited SLC unofficially, and will now get the opportunity to see the gameday atmosphere in Salt Lake City. He visited Arizona last week, so don't be surprised if a decision comes soon after his visit.
Amandre Williams
Defensive End
6-foot-3 inches, 235 pounds
Tahoma High School (Covington, Wash.)
Three Stars
Recruiting Coach: John Pease
Considering: *Currently committed to Washington
Breakdown: Utah was one of the first schools to offer the Washington commit, and he's interested enough to at least take a visit. However, it may be a tall order to get him to flip.
Johnny Maea (*Tentatively scheduled)
Offensive Line
6-foot-4 inches, 300 pounds
East High School (Salt Lake City, Utah)
Three Stars
Recruiting Coach: Morgan Scalley
Considering: Utah, Oregon State, BYU, Washington State
Breakdown: Maea is the top offensive lineman in the state of Utah this year, and the Utes have been recruiting him hard throughout the process. He'll serve a mission prior to enrolling.
Sci Martin (*Tentatively scheduled)
Defensive End
6-foot-4 inches, 220 pounds
McDonough 35 High School (New Orleans, Louisiana)
Three Stars
Recruiting Coach: Taylor Stubblefield
Considering: Utah, Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU, TCU
Breakdown: Martin is as good a pass rusher as you'll find in the South this recruiting class. The Utes have made enough of an impression on the field that Martin is interested in taking a closer look, but he may be a longshot considering the number of programs in SEC country that are also in hot pursuit.
Turner Bernard (*Tentatively scheduled)
Long Snapper
6-foot-2 inches, 220 pounds
Mountain Ridge High School (Glendale Ariz.)
Unrated
Recruiting Coach: Morgan Scalley
Considering: Utah, San Diego State
Breakdown: Rated by some special teams services as the top long snapper in the country, Bernard will be on hand to take a closer look at Utah's special teams unit and the possibility of taking over for Chase Dominguez once he graduates.
We'll track this through the week to see if anyone drops off the list. There is a ton of talent on that list. It will be interesting to see what kind of impression that Utah can make, especially on kid like Burgess.
