I really, really like this hire. Ena is well liked and respected by people in coaching circles. He's a former NFL linebacker, and he'll be able to speak from experience to the players. He's got connections in the Polynesian community (obviously) and continues the tradition of strong Polynesian coaches on staff at Utah. We've been talking about him since the first hot board that we ran after Sitake left, and personally Ena was one of the guys I was hoping they would hire.
It's too early to tell what kind of a recruiter Ena will be in the Pac-12. He's done a great job at Weber getting some kids that could have played FBS football to commit there. But he's a likable guy, and kids should connect with him. We'll see how strong he comes out of the gate.
Interestingly enough, he was Kalani's roommate for a time at BYU. I'll have more on him a bit later.
