Well, the final score may not have been as lopsided as Utah fans were hoping it would be, but Utah walked away with a decisive 37-16 victory tonight. The game could have potentially been a much bigger blowout, but a young Utah team made a lot of mistakes, racking up nearly 150 yards of penalties. Many of the penalties came in key situations, negating several first downs or big plays, or in one case, giving UND a first down after a roughing the kicker penalty.

The offense, other than the penalties, looked impressive. They put up 499 yards total and Tyler Huntley shone in his first start, accounting for nearly 300 yards by himself, as well as three touchdowns. Zack Moss looked very good too, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown. However, the offensive star had to be Darren Carrington, who caught 10 balls for 127 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line struggled in their first drive, but quickly came together and looked dominant in their run blocking. Pass protection could have been a little better, though.

The defense looked physically dominant, but again, penalties were costly. 9 of UND's 16 points came off of turnovers or when defensive penalties extended their drives. I was impressed with Johnson and Blackmon, but Hobbs struggled quite a bit. Marquise Blair is as advertised, and Chase Hansen looked like his normal self. Utah's defensive line was doing a good job getting pressure with just rushing 4, but you would've liked to see more sacks. However, they held UND to 238 yards total and allowed only 52 yards rushing.

Special teams looked good outside of the miss by Chayden Johnston. It looks like Matt Gay may have won the job tonight. Mitch Wishnowsky looked very good on his kickoffs and on his one punt, and Hobbs did a good job of fielding the punts and getting downfield instead of dancing around too much.
