The beginning of February means the start of the road to WrestleMania. WWE's first premier live event of the year will set up the company's most important timeframe on the calendar with one of its iconic nights: the Royal Rumble. One of the most well-known stipulations in wrestling, the annual Royal Rumble men's and women's matches will each have 30 competitors enter the ring and throw each other over the top rope. The last one standing in each match will get a championship bout at WrestleMania, which could be a career-changing match for a young talent or put two major stars against each other on the biggest stage.

The Royal Rumble streams exclusively in the United States on Peacock. Although the WWE recently signed a deal to bring Raw to Netflix, the WWE’s Premium Live Events (PLEs) will stay on Peacock through the rest of the year and into 2026. However, that only applies to the U.S., as Netflix will broadcast PLEs in several international markets.

Peacock offers subscribers two paid plans: Premium and Premium Plus. Premium costs $8 per month, and Premium Plus costs $14 per month. Both plans will stream WWE PLEs, including the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and WrestleMania.

SmackDown opened with Michael Cole welcoming Pat McAfee to a podium near the stage. It looks like WWE may be splitting host and commentary duties into two separate things. Joe Tessitore was in the ring and welcomed Kevin Owens to speak about his upcoming match against Cody Rhodes. He said he wanted to give KO a chance to speak his mind in the spirit of fairness. Owens expressed some anger before taking the winged eagle belt off the hanger and saying he would get the other one on Saturday. This brought out CM Punk to a big pop. Punk didn't come out to pick a fight but did say he would win the Rumble and come for whoever wins between KO and Rhodes. The Prize Fighter ended up saying several insulting things to the Straight-Edge Superstar, so Punk started firing back. He even brought up KO losing to Logan Paul to get under his skin. The segment ended with no violence, but the direction is clear. KO and Punk did a great job setting up their eventual feud without laying a finger on each other. This wasn't groundbreaking, but it did what it set out to do in an entertaining way.

The Royal Rumble match is known for surprise entrants, meaning the list of participants competing has not been finalized. Notable participants in the men’s match include Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and John Cena in his last Royal Rumble match ever. The women’s rumble match features Nia Jax, Charlotte Flair, Liv Morgan, Bayley, Bianca Belair, and more.

There are two other matches advertised on the card. Cody Rhodes will hang the Undisputed and Winged Eagle WWE Championship belts above the ring and face Kevin Owens in a ladder match. Additionally, #DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns face off in a two-out-of-three falls match for the tag championships.asdsfgdssdf
