So I'm bouncing around looking for something to watch. CBS Sports catches my attention with the 2022 Collegiate Bowling Championship going on! It's Saint Ambrose College versus William Paterson University. Two well-known and athletic powerhouse colleges are facing off. A tension-filled affair with two bowlers nervously battling for the Men's NCAA Championship. This NCAA sport could rival March Madness with the right network behind it. Forget TruTV, a savvy network could launch the CBN (no not that CBN, this one would be the Collegiate Bowling Network). College Sports fans have all this time, between the end of spring football and the start of the college football season when teams start practicing in August with nothing else to follow. It's a gold mine of an opportunity.
Why can't Utes be the Alabama of Collegiate Bowling? We are after all we are a proud member of the League of Champions! There has to be enough money in the athletic budget to afford bowling balls, and bowling shirts (by Under Armour), and they should be able to find some rental shoes for an entire team. Imagine the NIL opportunities in Salt Lake City and a sport like bowling! I can see the billboards up and down 1-15 and I-80 with our star Bowlers touting Utah companies and products. Who needs a baseball field on campus. We could build an incredible bowling practice facility that would rival anybody in the country. If we had an Athletic Director that was on the ball, we'd be dominating the sport by now. So far, he's been a huge disappointment, he has no vision of the future.
I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is and offer to buy the first bowling shirt for our first recruit. Now, if you really are a true Ute, you'll step up and support the building of a bowling powerhouse program with donations. Starting now.
