We were able to catch the last part of the 11 on 11 scrimmage as well as a look at the kickoff team this morning. Here are the five points:

1. Demari Simpkins came to play today. He made the play of the day today catching a crossing route in the back of the end zone. He shielded off the corner and Tyler Huntley put the ball on his back hip where only Simpkins could make a play.

2. One of the lows of today's practice was two missed field goals by Matt Gay. They were from 50 and 60 yards deep and they both had enough leg, just sailed a bit outside.

3. There is still a battle at the backup quarterback position. Coach Troy Taylor told the media yesterday that is a day to day battle and the battle is even. Tomorrow's scrimmage will play a big part going forward in this fall camp.

4. Zach Moss was repping with the starting offense today after sitting out during the scrimmage period. This meant the Ute offense was a bit more run-heavy this morning but it opened up opportunities for the other skill players to make plays on the outside.

5. I caught up with starting guard Jordan Agasiva after practice and he was praising the offensive line and the progress that they have made this off season. The offensive lineman have experience this year and every practice they keep progressing. Agasiva along with the returning starters on the offensive line have stepped up as leaders for the offensive side of the ball.
