Fred Whittingham—
-He doesn’t believe his guys have had too much of an adjustment with the new QBs. All three QBs throw a great ball.
-Dalton Kincaid has had a really nice camp and even with all of the talent still here, they accepted him and it didn’t rock the apple cart.
-As the recruiting coordinator, it’s been difficult for the staff not being allowed to get around the recruits and see their natural personalities and emotions. Lots of Zoom conversations, but it’s just not the same. They’re trying to make the best of it, though.
-Kuithe has that inner desire to always be the best he can be. They’ve wanted him to throw more bulk on, so he can excel blocking in the run game.
-The tight ends have really bought in to doing whatever they need to do on a game-to-game basis. Obviously they want the ball as much as possible.
-It’s becoming more of a trend again to use multiple tight ends.
-Doesn’t focus on stars with recruiting, more the in-depth early evaluations to offer as early as possible.
Brant Kuithe—
-Acknowledges the same stuff Whittingham brought up that he needs to work on, especially bulk with the run blocking.
-He feels that the tight ends are being used more in football now, because of the mismatches.
-He’s looking forward to the target on his back and he’s just going to focus on winning his one-on-one battles.
-He’s happy to see his brother Blake’s progress in camp and believes he can really do some nice things, but acknowledges Blake needs to stay healthy.
Cole Fotheringham—
-The tight end group is really focusing more on the little things in 2020, to increase their effectiveness and overall production.
-Says their group can really open things up for the offense because teams won’t be able to tell what their doing just based on their personnel.
-In the offseason he focused on refining all areas of his game, not just one specific thing.
-He really feels like the new guys competing for reps on offense have stepped up.
Solomon Enis—
-He’s eager to see him and the receivers in action and isn’t concerned about losing Dixon and Young-Smith.
-The group hasn’t really missed a beat and he’s excited for the tweaks they’ve implemented.
-There really hasn’t been a challenge getting used to the new quarterbacks. He’s excited to see how the QB pecking order plays out.
-The new guys in the secondary are coming along really well and fast.
Kyle Whittingham—
-It’s tough to know if the offense has just looked really good or if the defense has a ways to go, when the offense keeps winning the days.
-That said, he is happy with the progress on both sides, but the defense has plenty of work to do.
-They’ve tried to give key guys enough reps to amount up to two games. Doing a lot of “this tempo,” with not a crazy amount of tackling.
-They're about ready to internally name the starter at QB.
-The starter should be in place on Tuesday and they’ll be meeting to discuss that in the next couple hours.
-Game prep is starting to increase and and will switch to that full on Thursday or Friday.
-The team is already practicing with the pumped in crowd noise that is supposed to simulate how loud the stadium is. There’s no substitute for fans though, especially in RES.
-Safety is more set than cornerbacks. There will likely be a consistent four cornerback rotation.
-He’s excited to see the schemes that increase the tight end involvement with the offense.
