I caught up with 2017 WR commit Ty Jones this evening, and I can already tell you that this kid will be a fan favorite by the time it's said and done. One of the first things I asked him was why he committed so early in the process. He told me that the ability to play high level competition in the Pac-12 and stay home at the same time was everything he was looking for. So he decided to not drag it out.

When talking to him, it's pretty obvious that he doesn't care that much for BYU. I asked about Coach Stubblefield an he basically said that it wasn't awkward walking into his office like it is at other local schools he's visited (BYU). He then started to laugh.

The kid is pretty gregarious. Ute fans will love his personality.

On the field, he's a great looking receiver prospect. He's a terrific athlete, runs good routes, and has terrific hands. "I won't drop a bread crumb" is how he describes his hands. Some have expressed concern with his speed. That's the number one thing he's working on now, and in addition to football you'll see him competing in track - in the high jump, 110 m hurdles, 100 m and 200 m. He actually placed second in the state in the high jump as a freshman (he didn't compete in track during his sophomore year because he had school conflicts).

He's also a good student. He mentioned graduating with honors as a goal.

Signing day 2017 is a LONG way away, but this is the kind of kid I could see sticking regardless of who offers. An article is coming soon.
