San Clemente (Calif.) TE Cole Fotheringham committed to Utah today. I've been waiting for this one to break. A well placed source told me he was probably going to commit sometime this week, but he asked me to stay quiet about it. Here's some back story:
- Cole comes from a pretty die hard BYU family. I've heard there was a lot of pressure from some in his family to commit to BYU, but his heart has been with Utah for a long time.
- He's close friends with commit Tucker Scott from what I understand, and that relationship helped make his decision easier.
- He's likely going to be a sign and send.
- From a football standpoint, Cole is tall, athletic and has great hands and ball skills. He should be a nice weapon for the Ute offense when he gets on campus.
- San Clemente is turning into a nice recruiting spot for Utah football, and that's a great sign. It's a terrific program and that pipeline is valuable.
More to come soon.
