Grossmont College RB Thomas McDonald announced his commitment to Utah last night via his twitter account. This is a very nice get for the Utes. McDonald was the first JUCO RB to get an offer from the Utes (and they were planning on taking at least one JUCO RB in this class). As a freshman, McDonald split most of the reps at RB, but rushed for 724 yards and 8 TDs anyway (averaging a hair over 5 yards per carry in the process).
In a lot of ways, he fits the mold of JUCO RBs that have been successful at Utah in the past. McDonald has enough size to be a bruiser between the tackles but has excellent speed in the open field.
